The City of Compton’s Grants Department is offering a 10-week small business accelerator program to provide Compton-based small business owners and residents interested in starting small businesses with key knowledge to better help their business succeed.

Meals on Wheels deliveries will be paused for the holiday season
starting Nov 25, 2025  through Jan 9, 2026. 

 Regular meal deliveries will resume on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

The Meals on Wheels program provides nutritious meals to low- and moderate-income seniors (generally age 62 and over) who are homebound, frail, or have limited mobility, helping them maintain their independence and health.

I am pleased to inform you about the upcoming launch of our Small Business Grant Program, which is designed to support and empower local small businesses in Compton.

This program aims to provide financial assistance to small businesses that are vital to the economic health and vibrancy of our community. By offering grants of up to $25,000, we hope to help businesses grow, sustain employees and strengthen the local economy. The application process will open on Thursday, June 19 and closes Friday, July 18 at 5:00pm staff is committed to ensuring transparency and accessibility. The program will prioritize local businesses with 20 employees or less and that has been affected by COVID-19.

Attention Small Business Owners! To streamline the application process for the City’s Small Business Grant opportunity, a Google email account is required. If you do not have one create one now it’s FREE.

The intent of the Housing Rehabilitation Program (HRP) is to provide financial assistance to low- and moderate- income owner-occupants of single-family detached homes for the preservation of decent, safe, and sanitary housing; to correct hazardous structural conditions; to make improvements considered necessary to eliminate blight; and, to correct building and health code violations by awarding grants or loans. All property to be repaired must be eligible residential property located within the city limits of the City of Compton.

 Application Cycle

 APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL JULY 14, 2025

All applications must be submitted by JULY 31, 2025 for Phase 2 consideration

Home Investment Partnerships Program Info Sheet

The HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) provides formula grants to States and localities that communities use - often in partnership with local nonprofit groups to fund a wide range of activities including building, buying, and/or rehabilitating affordable housing for rent or home-ownership or providing direct rental assistance to low-income people. HOME is the largest Federal block grant to state and local governments designed exclusively to create affordable housing for low-income households.

Community Development Block Grant

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Entitlement Program provides annual grants on a formula basis to entitled cities and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons. The program is authorized under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, Public Law 93-383, as amended; 42 U.S.C.-530.1 et seq.
