Each year, the City of Compton participates (as an entitlement jurisdiction) in the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). These programs are administered by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and provides funding for a variety of different community development, housing, and public service activities. Regulations governing the CDBG program require that each activity undertaken with CDBG funds meet one of the following three broad national objectives: 1) Benefit people with low- and moderate-incomes; 2) Aid in the prevention or elimination of slums and blight; 3) Meet an urgent need (such as earthquake, flood, or hurricane relief).
